Seattle Maritime Academy Programs

Seattle Central College’s Seattle Maritime Academy offers a variety of programs to train the next generation of mariners for vital roles, including in commercial and passenger transportation, commercial fishing, deep sea sailing and the workboat industry.

  • Maritime Engineering Technology combines practical shipboard experience with classroom instruction to teach the design, operation and maintenance of marine propulsion plants and equipment.
  • Marine Deck Technology teaches students to operate and maintain deck equipment and gain the navigational skills needed to qualify as an Able Seaman–Special.

Other Maritime Programs

In addition to the formal programs, the Seattle Maritime Academy provides hands-on training in our new facilities, which feature state-of-the-art simulators, and on our fleet of commercial vessels.

  • Maritime companies and organizations can received customized professional development for their workforce.
  • Recreational boaters can learn basic navigation, knot-tying, small boat handling and more through our continuing education classes.
