Get Started in Marine Deck Technology

The Marine Deck Technology Program is a one-year certificate program. Applications may be submitted at any time and admission is granted on a first-come, first-served basis. New students may enroll only in the Fall Quarter.

Eligibility Requirements

Steps to Enroll (or be added to the Waitlist)

  1. Attend a Seattle Maritime Academy Tour and Information Session or contact the department for more information.
  2. Complete the 5-Step Enrollment Process for Seattle Central College, which includes placement testing/transcript evaluations to ensure you meet the math and English requirements.
  3. To hold your place in the program, we need you to provide the application payment receipt from your MMC application. We will not be able to hold a spot to for you in the program without having the receipt from your MMC application. Obtaining ALL of these items (the TWIC, MMC, and Medical Certificate) is due February 1st for the following year. (Items due Feb 1st for 2025 cohort). During the Open enrollment period, please submit the following items via email to SMA.Central@seattlecolleges.edu OR in person to the front desk at Seattle Maritime Academy:
    • Seattle Central Student ID Number (ctcLink ID)
    • Receipt from Payment for MMC Application
    • Copy of photo page of Drivers License, ID Card, US Passport or Permanent Resident Card
    • Copy of Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) (Need copies of both front and back.)
    • Copy of Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) photo page and endorsement page
    • Copy of Merchant Mariner Medical Certificate

Only applications that include all of the above items can be considered for acceptance into the program.
