Mark Silva
Mark is a dedicated and accomplished professional with a diverse background in service and education. After high school, he joined the Coast Guard, where he served for ten years in both active duty and reserve roles. His tenure included a year stationed aboard a 270-foot cutter, followed by assignments at various small boat stations and bases.
Mark pursued higher education in South Carolina, earning both a bachelor's and a master's degree. Driven by a passion for helping others, he joined the Peace Corps and served in a rural village in Guyana, followed by a year in Peru working with various community organizations.
Upon returning to the United States, Mark dedicated a few years to resettling refugees in the Sacramento area, providing crucial support to individuals and families adapting to new lives. For the past seven years, he has been an advisor at Seattle Central, guiding students through their educational journeys and helping them achieve their academic goals.
When Mark is not at SMA, he enjoys gardening, cooking, and playing in the mountains with his wife and dog.
