I, Darel Jenkins,  am from Long Island, NY and I graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy in 1980. Then I sailed as 3rd engineer with MSC for one year. Then worked as a Nuclear Training/Shift Supervisor for Knolls Atomic Power Lab (KAPL) from 1981-1986. Then I went back to sea as a 3rd engineer for Exxon Shipping Company 1986-1989. Then I went back to sea as 3rd-1st assistant engineer with various companies with the MEBA 1990-2000. Then I earned a Masters o Arts in Teaching degree from Johns Hopkins in 2003. I also taught secondary Math in Silver Spring, MD from 2000-2008. I also wend back to sea from 2006-2016 with MEBA and retired from there, sailing chief engineer with Maersk Line Ltd 2011-2016. From 2016 till June 2024, I worked as a Fleet Maintenance Mgr. with Matson Navigation. I started teaching Marine Math at SMA September 25th.
