Madison Clark (she/they)

Program Specialist

Madison Clark is the Program Specialist at Seattle Maritime Academy, where she supports students through program coordination, academic services, and career development resources. She brings nearly a decade of experience in higher education, with a focus on retention, equity, and student success. In her role, Madison is dedicated to helping students navigate their academic and professional journeys, ensuring they feel supported from enrollment to their next steps in the maritime field and beyond.

Born in Petaluma, California, and raised in Fort Bragg, a small coastal fishing town, Madison’s connection to maritime life is personal- their grandfather and uncle both worked as fisherfolk. She later lived in Grass Valley, California, during her high school years before moving to Los Angeles to pursue her education. Madison earned associate degrees in Sociology, Social & Behavioral Sciences, and Women’s Studies at Los Angeles Pierce College before transferring to the University of California, Los Angeles, where they completed their bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies. They went on to earn their master’s degree in Counseling and College Student Personnel, which further fueled their passion for student development and access to education.

Prior to joining SMA, Madison served as a Retention Specialist at Pasadena City College, where she supported students in reaching their academic and career goals. Their professional journey reflects a deep commitment to fostering inclusive learning environments and expanding representation in higher education and maritime careers. Outside of work, Madison enjoys crocheting, painting, drawing, thrifting, exploring local markets, and attending live music events. She’s also a fan of both video games and board games, finding creativity and connection in the worlds they open up. True to their Cancer sun, Sagittarius moon, and Aquarius rising, Madison loves recharging by the water and soaking up the sun. Her cat, Queen Marchesa (Mari), named after a Magic The Gathering card is her furry soulmate that keeps her company and keeps her on her toes. As a queer professional, she values building spaces where all students feel they belong and can see themselves reflected in their future careers.
